First in line of changes is the new platform. 2017 Raptor will be underpinned with light weighted F-150 platform, which will save significant amount of weight for the Raptor truck. New Raptor will be around 500 lbs lighter than its predecessor. It is unnecessary to mention multiple advantages which will follow this upgrade, from fuel economy to better maneuverability.

Other than lower weight, new Raptor also features off-road suspension, widened, unique fenders, and 35-inch wheels. Front end features new grille, and LED lighting. Other improvements and details include standard dual exhaust, 360-degree camera and tailgate. The upcoming Raptor will be available in two sizes with 133-inch and 145-inch wheelbase.

2017 Ford Raptor ENGINES

New Raptor will be empowered with EcoBoost twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 with direct fuel injection. It will be able to produce up to 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft or torque.  The power of the engine will be transmitted to all wheels. Shifting will be run through new 10-speed automatic transmission.

Also new for this generation is a terrain-response function that helps the truck for varied surfaces. Current model’s 6.2-liter V8 engine will be cut-off from the engine line-up, which is no surprise considering that upcoming V6 produces more power than the V8.
