It is slightly unclear which engine will be available for which market. The power of the engine will be distributed via 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. Fuel economy is better than before, thanks to electric power-assisted steering system, which also influenced the handling of the model. Petrol engine packed under the hood of the 2017 Ranger is a 2.5-liter Duratec with output rates of 164hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. Diesel engines include Duratorq units. First and base one is a 2.2-liter Duratorq four-cylinder TDCi with 129 horsepower. Same engine is available with slightly bigger output of 158 hp, as well. Stronger diesel unit is a 3.2-liter Duratorq 5-cylinder TDCi capable to deliver 197 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque.

Although it is still early to discuss the exact release date, we can prognosticate period of the year when the model is expected to show up. Since the 2016 Ranger still isn’t released, we don’t expect 2017 version to come out any time soon. This means certainly not before fall next year. However, if Ford decides to skip the 2016 MY and to launch the Ranger for 2017th, than we can move expected release to earlier months of the 2016. Pricing will not be much different, meaning that Ranger will start slightly under $25,000.
