2016 Toyota Tundra diesel, changes, release

A lot of news is published about the upcoming 2016 Toyota Tundra. This full size pickup truck will start the generation with this model year, and it will bring various changes, amongst them is the new Diesel engine. Besides this great addition to Tundra’s engine line-up, new generation also bring some changes in Tundra’s look and feel. Its styling components will not be majorly different, nor will its construction materials.

2016 Toyota Tundra will primarily be improved pickup truck, considering that this is the beginning of its second generation. Its exterior and interior were refreshed only two years ago, for 2014 MY. This time Tundra’s redesign has much more substantial changes rather than cosmetic ones.

Its body lines will be sleeker, more aerodynamic, according to the latest news. New design is made in a way that it follows the trends in the automotive industry. This means that it appearance will be similar to SUVs and pickup trucks. Both front and rear end will be redesigned as well. Grille and headlights are expected to receive new shape.

Interior of the upcoming 2016 Toyota Tundra will be more luxurious than before. Market demands for trucks that offer car-like interior is in constant grow, and automakers try and succeed to offer just what the customers want. New Tundra is no exception. Up until now, Tundra offered its customers completely three engines, all gasoline. Now, due to increased demand, and the fact that its competition stud up, Toyota decided to include diesel unit into the line-up. New engine for 2016 Toyota Tundra will be Cummins 5.0-liter turbo diesel with ability to deliver more than 300 hp and more than 500 lb-ft of torque.

As you all already know, CAFÉ standards are now prescribing that corporate average mpg ratings have to be 54.5 mpg by 2025, so Nissan (with its Titan pickup) and Toyota are just some automakers which are trying to reach this goal. In future, we can expect almost every car or truck producer to offer at least one diesel unit per vehicle.

Current engines, including 4.0-liter V6 and 4.6-liter and 5.7-liter V8s will continue to be available.


Release date of the model was originally expected late this year, but according to latest news, early 2016 is more realistic period for the reveal of the new 2016 Toyota Tundra. Model’s price is not available yet, but it is estimated to start around $30,000.
