Many people are interested in 2016 Honda Ridgeline, mainly due to the fact that this model will be fully redesigned and start a new generation in the production life of the popular pickup truck. Wide public seen the sketch of the model first, and shortly after that, spy photographers managed to catch the model testing with camouflage on. Even though the 2016 Ridgeline was fully disguised, its high level changes are noticeable. Here are the most important specs and changes we can expect from it:
2016 Honda Ridgeline CHANGES
Teaser which Honda presented at the Chicago Auto Show revealed which is the direction Honda is planning to take with latest generation of the Ridgeline truck. The model features a completely new look, and this is later confirmed with spy shots of the model caught during the testing in Ohio. New Ridgeline will feature more traditional pickup truck shape of its body, in order to attract more buyers. Front end of the model is expected to be similar to the ones found on the Pilot and CR-V models. Differentiation between the models will mainly be related to grille design 2016 Honda Ridgeline will feature. More rugged and bulkier look, more appropriate for the truck Ridgeline is, will be positioned on the front.
The platform of the new Ridgeline will also be shared with the latest Pilot SUV. Four-door configuration is expected to be the only option for the new Ridgeline buyers, but this info is still not confirmed and, therefore subject to change.
Interior changes are still not known. However what is expected is upgrade in each segment, including design, materials and features. More SUV-like design and features should provide better positioning for the upcoming truck by Honda.
2016 Honda Ridgeline ENGINES
Under the hood of the 2016 Honda Ridgeline is expected to be placed a 3.5L V6 engine, which is currently placed under the hood of the Pilot. As it seems these two will have much more similarities than one could expect. Front-wheel drive is also expected to be available alongside with four-wheel drive.
When it comes to transmissions, new Ridgeline will probably come with a 6-speed automatic, while new 9-speed automatic remains a possibility. Mentioned Pilot’s engine delivers 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, but its output rates for the 2016 Honda Ridgeline truck have not been announced yet.
2016 Honda Ridgeline PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
Debut of the model is not expected before early on next year, or, at best, late on this. Sales of the Ridgeline should be expected around mid-2016, or sometime around that period of the next year. Pricing specs will be revealed later by Honda, but base price is estimated at $30,000 approximately.
