2016 GMC Sierra Redesign, Price

Although GMC unveiled its fully redesigned Sierra before 2 years, new model year still has some changes expecting us. There is no much info regarding specific changes that will happen on the 2016 GMC Sierra, but it is known that the model will be facelifted. Recent news reveal that GMC didn’t make any major change, but rather improvements and upgrades classic for this type of mid-cycle refreshments.

2016 GMC Sierra CHANGES

Exterior of the 2016 GMC Sierra will feature some styling and feature changes. Styling changes will include some revision on the front and rear end, focusing on the styling element that are “easy to change“ and do not affect the price of the model. Those include refreshment of the front grille, which is now amended with grille inserts giving the 2016 GMC Sierra more unique and chunkier look than before.

Exterior features added include LED lights, both front and back, as well as LED fog lights. Its wheels will probably be 21-inchers, and will come with some new design. More details about 2016 Sierra’s new look will be known latter one, but it will include few more similar changes, all made in order to modernize its looks.

On the inside, new Sierra comes with few design changes and various feature’s upgrade. Most interesting news about the interior of the Sierra is the addition of the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, which was announced for this model year, and later confirmed by GMC officials.

2016 GMC Sierra Interior


Even though GMC revealed some exterior and interior updates people can expect from 2016 GMC Sierra, there wasn’t a word about the performance of the model. Engines are expected to stay the same, while there could be some changes regarding the availability of the 8-speed transmission and safety systems, considering that Chevy did those things for its 2016 Silverado.

Engines will be the same as before and will include three units. First and base one is a 4.3-liter V-6 good for 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. Second one is a 5.3-liter V-8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. And third and the strongest one available is a 6.2-liter V-8 producing 420 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque.

All engines are coupled with 6-speed automatic transmission, while 8-speed automatic is available with the 6.2-liter V-8. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available as optional.

GMC already announced that new Sierra will be available during the last quarter this year, so precise pricing and specs of the model will be revealed after the release. However, the prices are expected to stay close to the current ones, meaning the base 2016 GMC Sierra should start around $27,000.
