2016 Dodge Dakota pickup truck
2016 Dodge Dakota is expected to mark the return of the mid-size pickup truck produced by Dodge truck division, or Chrysler’s Ram. The model is also known under the name Ram Dakota. Its production lasted from 1987 up to 2011. In that period Dakota received various awards for its design and performance, and was nominated for North American Truck of the Year award. It was used by police and fire departments for off road ride which shows the quality it owned.
2016 Dodge Dakota EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR CHANGES
If the rumors really came true, and Chrysler decides to launch 2016 Dodge Dakota or RAM Dakota, whatever the name may be, its exterior and interior will go through severe redesign. Its body-on-frame construction will probably be the same, kept in order to deliver same off-road abilities. However, the big difference will be in materials Dakota is made from. More usage of light weighted materials is expected in order to reduce weight of the model and improve its fuel economy.
Changes will be visible on the front and rear end as well. New grille and headlights will probably be the first thing you notice by looking at the new 2016 Dodge Dakota. Rear end will feature new taillights, and bumper. Overall shape of the model will probably lean towards more aerodynamic shape, while interior will be designed in order to meet customer’s demand for car-like cabin. Expect numerous features which will be added for additional comfort and entertainment, but also for safety and easier drive.
2016 Dodge Dakota ENGINE SPECS
Since Dakota already was ahead of its competitors, by offering optional V8 engine, its performance specs will continue in the same direction but with new technologies added for additional power and better efficiency.
Base engine will continue to be V6, but whether Dakota will keep its 3.7-liter Magnum V6 with 210 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque, or include some other, we will have to wait and see. Optional engine will probably be the same, 4.7-liter V8. In previous models this engine delivered either 230 or 260 horsepower. For 2016 model year, we expect the version with stronger output (260 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque).
Two wheel drive and four wheel drive configurations are expected to be available for this model year as well.
