2016 Chevy Silverado release date, price

Tough competition on the market, especially for pickup truck is forcing their producers to make adjustments and upgrades even more often than they would want to. In order to keep up with leading automakers, and new designs of the pickups, Chevrolet decided to refresh its Silverado. Even though changes are not substantial, they are making a difference between 2016 Chevy Silverado and its predecessor. What exactly is different, and what is the same? Let’s review it.

2016 Chevy Silverado is a full-size pickup truck, and as such it offers very strong and masculine exterior design. For new model year Chevy decided to take it a step further by redesigning its front end and by adding some new features and upgrading the existing ones. New Silverado now features bold front fascia with horizontal elements, further amended with dramatic lighting, which has a purpose to enhance the “tough look” of the refreshed pickup. Both headlight and taillights are new.

Trims are the same, and new Chevy Silverado comes available in 7 highly equipped trims, including WT, LS, LT, LT Z71, LTZ, LTZ Z71 and High Country. When it comes to features, new Silverado will have more safety systems, as well as upgraded MyLink infotainment system with Google’s Android Auto and Apple CarPlay gadgets. Also, Silverado will continue to offer different box lengths and body types, including Regular Cab, Crew Cab and Double Cab.

When it comes to performance specs of the 2016 Chevy Silverado, new pickup will come with same engines as before. However, not all will be the same.

Base engine continues to be a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 with 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque. It is packed with Active Fuel Management, Direct Injection, and Variable Valve Timing.

Second engine available is a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. And third is a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

6-speed automatic transmission remains the standard one, while Chevy announced wider application of the 8-speed automatic transmission. Both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive are available as well.

Official release of the model is expected during this fall, 2015. Pricing specs will be known as we approach to its release, but we can expect minor price increase. Starting price of the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado is estimated to be around $27,000.
