Last model year brought big redesign for Chevy’s Colorado. It went from compact truck class to mid-size, delivering a lot of changes and making the new generation highly competitive. Despite the last year’s big redesign, new 2016 Chevy Colorado will be updated as well. Its changes will include some different exterior paint, interior feature upgrades, as well as the introduction of the new, diesel, engine.  With all these changes, new Colorado pretends to be on top of the list of most desirable pickup trucks.

2016 Chevy Colorado EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR

New Colorado, for 2016 MY continues to ride on the fully-boxed steel frame. Its exterior changes affect mainly the color choices customers will have available. Other than that, exterior design stays the same. Last year changes on the front end, new grill and headlights still make the Colorado fresh and up-to-date.

Changes that will be done on the 2016 Chevy Colorado include mainly interior upgrades. Infotainment system is amended with a color display as standard, which gives it more luxurious feel. Trim levels are the same as before, and include LT, WT and Z71. LT Convenience Package and the Z71 package got rear-sliding window added to their list of standards.

2016 Chevy Colorado ENGINE LINE-UP

New model year bring reinforcement in Colorado’s engine line-up. Beside two gasoline units, already available under its hood, new Colorado will have 2.8-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel inline-four cylinder engine. Its output rates are not available yet, but we will inform you about when we get the details. Its fuel economy on the other hand, is expected to be really great, so those willing to save few bucks will have to wait for a little bit longer.

Base engine continues to be a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder with 200 horsepower. It is combined with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, carrying the power to the rear wheels as standard, or all four as optional choice.

Optional power choice is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 305 horsepower. Its towing capacity is rated at 7,000 pounds. Transmission choices include automatic gearbox (6-speed) and drivetrains are the same as for four-cylinder.

Fuel economy for 2.5-liter inline-four unit is rated at 22 miles per gallon combined with automatic and one mile less with manual gearbox. 2016 Chevy Colorado with a V6 engine will deliver 21 mpg combined.

Pricing specs of the 2016 Chevy Colorado will be revealed closer to its release date, which is expected late this year. Base price, however, is not expected to be higher than the current one, meaning it will start around  $21,000.
