Nissan Cube, mini MPV from Japanese auto producer Nissan, was not known in the North American or European market until 2009. However, the model was in production since 1998, and sold exclusively in Japan for two generations. Starting its third generation Nissan decided to broad the sales markets of the model by launching it on two more continents. This turns out to be hit and a miss. Sales of the Nissan Cube in Europe was poor, and Japanese brand decided to withdraw the small MPV from this market back in 2011, while the end of Cube’s life in North America was declared last year, 2014.
Chevy Reaper is a special version of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Model caught the attention of many people since it was designed and tuned in order to deliver high off-road performances. Its main competitor is Ford Raptor, and you will find numerous comparisons between the two. Chevy Reaper is a product of joint venture of General Motors performance specialist Lingenfelter and custom builder Southern Comfort Automotive.
2016 VW Touran was revealed earlier on this year, at the 2015 Geneva Auto Show. During that event we had a chance to see what we can expect from new, second, generation, which started with this redesign. Originally launched back in 2003, this compact MPV only had one generation until now. Although Touran is not so interesting in US, its European customers simply love the vehicle for multiple reasons. Beside new, more modern design 2016 VW Touran bring changes in its performance as well, offering new engines and better fuel economy than ever.
For those who don’t know, Isuzu is a Japanese commercial vehicles and diesel engine manufacturing company and D-Max is a pickup truck built by it. Isuzu was founded back 1916, and 2016 year will be 100th year of its existence. Having in mind that manufacturer anniversary is just around a corner, 2016 Isuzu D-Max will get some upgrades at least in form of some special edition. Other than that, we could also see minor facelift for the model, since current, second generation started back in 2012. If Isuzu decides to launch the model in form as we know it, its facelift will follow a year or two later.
According to some rumors 2016 Suzuki Equator will mark big return of the mid-size pickup truck, produced by Nissan in the US. The model was originally launched back in 2008, as a 2009 model, but it was soon discontinued. Back in 2012, American Suzuki Motor Corp. declared bankruptcy, and that meant the end for the Equator as we know it. Few years later, we have slightly different situation. The model seems to be making a big comeback, while its specs will continue to be based on the Nissan’s Frontier.
Few years ago, at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Mitsubishi revealed its GR-HEV Concept. It is a hybrid pickup truck, which resembles the Triton pickup, redesigned for this model year. 2016 Mitsubishi GR-HEV is production version of the diesel-electric hybrid pickup truck. Mitsubishi’s plan is to introduce few hybrid vehicles until 2020, and one two vehicles that will enrich automaker’s line-up were presented at previously mentioned Auto Show. One of them is GR-HEV, and the other is CA-MiEV, battery-powered electric compact vehicle.
2016 Mazda BT-50 has been refreshed for this model year. Currently in its second generation, this pickup truck is relatively new, especially considering that the trucks do not change their design or performances as often as regular cars do. But Mazda seems to think differently, because it decided to make a change only four years after the big redesign.
2016 Kia Sedona comes with minimal changes, since the model went through big redesign for previous model year. Currently in its third generation, which started a year ago Sedona minivan is still fresh and new, so South Korean automaker doesn’t need to make any big upgrades in order to keep it competitive. The model offer high level of refinement and functionality, which will provide it to be among top sellers in its category.
Popular SUV new generation will start with upcoming model year, and it will include 2016 Jeep Wrangler Pickup Truck into the offer. This new version of the model will be launched side-by-side with regular one, providing more options for both pickup and SUV lovers. Starting with 2016 model year, and few years after, Jeep will feature quite expansion of its models. Besides big redesigns planned for the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee (2016) upcoming years will also bring new models as well as return of some old names. Although the year wasn’t précised, Jeep will return its Grand Wagoneer onto the market, and launch smaller SUV to enrich the line-up.
2016 VW Amarok is the latest version of VW’s traditional body-on-frame truck built for the first time back in 2010. Previous model received updates for new model year, so we don’t expect much from the upcoming 2016 model. New generation will probably come a year later, for 2017, or even 2018 model year. Amarok is no so well-known in the US, since German automaker hasn’t made it available for this market Currently the Amarok is sold in South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Europe. There were no indications from VW about broadening of the market for this great performer.
